Wisconsin Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager, a Fond du Lac native, flew to Los Angeles to appear on the Tyra Banks Show on Thursday.

The show, which will air in September, was about Internet crimes against children, Lautenschlager said, a subject her office is very familiar with. Wisconsin set a national arrest record of Internet predators in 2005 with 120. Lautenschlager credited the creation of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in cracking down against the crimes.

She said the show featured her and Wisconsin Department of Justice Special Investigative Agent Eric Szatkowski along with children who used the Internet, some victims of Internet crime and a perpetrator of Internet crime. Lautenschlager discussed the legal implications of Internet crime with the producers and gave Internet safety tips, she said.

“It was a good opportunity for us to get out an important message to a group of people regarding the importance of this,” she said. “I was happy to be a part of it because the importance of the topic is so serious.”

Lautenschlager, who said she never saw the Tyra Banks show before because she doesn’t watch television very often, described Banks in one word “tall,” but then went on to say she was impressed with the supermodel. “She was very pleasant and it was clear she had an interest in the subject”!

Amidst various rumours regarding the show’AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL” Tyra Banks has issued her first statement in regards to a strike launched by the writers of her show, “America’s Next Top Model.”

Writers and producers walked out earlier this month demanding recognition as members of the Writers Guild of America (WGA). Show producers have declined to recognize the petition unless the employees seek representation through a lengthier process administered by the National Labor Relations Board.

In a statement released Thursday, the show’s creator, executive producer and host Banks noted that she is a member of unions SAG and AFRTA, and “respects the desire of any employee of ‘America’s Next Top Model’ who wants to be unionized, however, this is not a decision I control. This is an industry wide issue between the networks, studios and unions. I hope this matter is resolved as quickly as possible and on terms agreeable to all parties concerned.”

Meanwhile, CW chief operating officer John Maatta has sent a letter to affiliates assuring the show’s Sept. 20 premiere will take place on the network as planned, and that all 13 episodes for the show’s run through December have already been shot and have not been affected by the strike.

Network execs suggest the walkout won’t necessitate any production changes for several months, when work would begin on the next 13 episodes set to air beginning in March.

At the 58th Emmy awards,Sporting jewellery worth about US$3.5 million ($5.5m), the host of America’s Next Top Model was one of the few stars on the red carpet whose entourage included security guards.

‘I have all these security guards following me, but I don’t know if someone were to steal the jewellery and if someone were to shoot me, which one would they protect first,’ she joked in an interview with E! Channel host Ryan Seacrest, who’s also host of American Idol.Her outfit, designed by French designer George Chakra, was worth a pretty penny as well - about US$55,000.

News is that California First Lady (aka Mrs Arnold Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger) has invited His Holiness Dalai Lama to offer his speech at the California Governor and First Lady’s Conference on Women.
