Retired supermodel Tyra Banks has lost 30 pounds in five months after photographs of her beachwear left her in tears on her U.S. TV talk show.

Banks insisted the shots of her in a bikini during a winter break were just taken from a bad angle as she launched a ‘So what’ campaign on her TV show and urged the tabloids to stop poking fun at stars’ weight loss and weight gain.

At one point she broke down on her show, stating, “With all the self-esteem my mom instilled in me, the criticism still hurts.”

But the terrible photographs forced Banks to take action - and, after months spent eating right and exercising, she has dropped 30 pounds, according to Life & Style magazine.

An insider tells the publication, “She’s eating healthy foods,but they’re ones she likes, so she’s more apt to maintain her diet.”

And she’s completely revamped the food that’s available to her and guests backstage at her show.

Marcellas Reynolds, a frequent guest on The Tyra Banks Show, adds, “The craft-service table is now entirely absent of junk food and carbs. All you see are lean turkey sandwiches and loads of fresh-cut veggies and fruit.”

The 33-year-old star of The Tyra Banks Show explains, “Twenty-three-year-old guys ask me out all the time. Some of them are even celebrities who come on to my show. One guy even went for my muffin top .I was like, ‘You’re 10 years younger than me. You need to date Hilary Duff. Don’t date me. I have a roll around my middle.”

However, she insists she is now less popular with men her age, adding, “I make a good living, so men my age get a little intimidated.”

Telling supermodel Tyra Banks that she has become fat may see her flattening you out with that mean right hook, for the former Victoria’s Secret Angel has joined a boxing gym to keep in shape.

Banks trainer, Martin Snow, the owner of Trinity Boxing Club revealed how he is helping the model to stay fit.The trainer insisted that they don’t follow routine and high-tech stuff but working out the hard work.

“She comes in around three times a week now. And each time it’s different. We will take these old tractor tires and she will swing sledgehammers. We do bags filled with sand. I have a boxing gym so I basically do the moves with her that a fighter would do. She tends to get bored just doing conventional stuff. She has an athletic body, so I just try to bring it out. She responds very well to exercise. I do old-man Charles Atlas workouts. Stuff that old-time fighters used to do to get in shape,” he added.

Earlier, the unattractive snaps of the stunning model during an Australian winter holiday caused ripples in the media, and some reports made fun of Banks and claimed that she had gained weight.

Guests on Banks’ May 24 show will give Rochelle Gaddis a $150,000 check and pledge to build a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home, a news release from the show’s publicist said. Gaddis lost her home in the August 2005 storm.Gaddis appeared on Banks’ show last season to talk about her losses in Katrina. Her sister and nephew also died in the storm.

Rochelle and her family plan on moving into their new house at the end of May, the news release said.

She said: “I never had dreams that, ‘Oh, I’m going to walk down the aisle in a white dress, with my husband.’ Maybe because I’m the product of divorced parents, and see so much divorce, especially in my industry, it’s not something that I glamorise. I see it as Work. Hard work. Though I still dream of having kids.”

Jennifer Hudson, “Desperate Housewives” actress Felicity Huffman and model turned talk show host Tyra Banks are among the latest celebs to help out Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty: the Dove Deodorant Sleeveless Ready Celebrity Auction.

The brand’s latest campaign stems from their deodorant line. According to Dove, studies suggest that only eight percent of women admit to feeling beautiful when they go sleeveless. The new campaign recruited the celebs as well as model Elle Macpherson, actress Queen Latifah, Access Hollywood fashion correspondent Stacy London and Project Runway winner Chloe Dao to personalize and sign sleeveless t-shirts.

Beginning this month, visitors to Dove.com can bid on celeb designed tees. The clothing items will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to the Dove Self-Esteem Fund which will pay for self esteem workshops through ME! A Girl Scouts USA program.

“At 4′11 and ¾ it took me 35 years to think I was pretty cute, the campaign is teaching girls about real beauty and being confident in own self,” Dao told

For her t-shirt, Dao said she chose one from her own line.

“I chose my favorite sleeveless design that I made 6 years ago. I love the back - an open back,” she said. “I think if you are going to do it you show as much skin as you can.”

TYRA Banks sure looked cozy with Knicks coach Isiah Thomas as they lunched at Club 66 in Midtown on Tuesday afternoon. “They looked like they were really enjoying themselves,” our spy said. More interestingly, the sizzling supermodel, who arrived in her private limo, left the eatery with Thomas, jumping into the passenger seat of his SUV.

Isiah says they’re just friends, but … this fits the profile of what interests him. Huge upside, but does show signs of being flawed.
